CHICAGO – Jon Olav Einemo knows he won’t be the crowd favorite when he meets fellow heavyweight and Chicago cop Mike Russow tonight at the city’s United Center for a UFC on FOX 2 bout.

So earlier this week at a pre-event press-conference, Einemo wore a “Chicago Rum Runners” T-shirt.

As he joked, his badge-carrying opponent surely will have law-abiding citizens on his side, so Einemo might as well go for the other, less-scrupulous members of society.

The official weigh in for Friday night's (January 20th) UFC on FX debut took place today at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee and all but one fighter made weight for the event.<Br><Br>

Fabricio Camoes weighed in at 157.5lbs, shy of the 156lb limit for his lightweight bout against Tom Hayden. Camoes has two hours to make weight.<Br><Br>

The UFC will head to Las Vegas once again this July, and will bring a UFC Fan Expo along with them. According to multiple published reports, the organization will return on July 7 to their home base, with the Fan Expo serving as a lead-in to the card.

It will mark the third UFC Fan Expo in Las Vegas, and the first since UFC 114 in May of 2010. They debuted the two-day Expo format for UFC 100 in July of 2009, and have since held subsequent expos in Boston, Houston, and in the U.K. around events.

UFC Announces Pre-Signing PED Tests

Ultimate Fighting Championship® announced today that all potential UFC® and STRIKEFORCE® signees will be subject to a mandatory pre-contract screening for performance-enhancing drugs. Beginning Jan. 1, 2012, all incoming athletes will be tested prior to finalizing a contract with the world's premier mixed martial arts organization.<br><Br>

UFC and STRIKEFORCE already work closely with regulators and athletic commissions to ensure the health and safety of athletes prior to competition. This includes contestants on The Ultimate Fighter®, all of whom are pre-screened for performance-enhancing drugs prior to participation.<br><Br>

All current UFC and STRIKEFORCE athletes will continue to be screened for performance-enhancing drugs, both prior to competition and at random, in accordance with athletic commission rules and regulations.<br><Br>

"We're committed to the health and safety of our athletes and we take it very seriously," UFC Chairman and CEO Lorenzo Fertitta said. "We already work closely with athletic commissions to protect our athletes and now we're taking it one step further. We're going to test any potential UFC or STRIKEFORCE fighter before finalizing their contract. This shows that we don't want performance-enhancing drugs in our sport."<br><Br>

"The health and safety of our athletes is our top priority," UFC President Dana White said. "We've seen the issues performance-enhancing drugs have caused in other sports and we're going to do everything we can to keep them out of the UFC and STRIKEFORCE. Our athletes are already held to the highest testing standards in all sports by athletic commissions. Our new testing policy for performance-enhancing drugs only further shows how important it is to us to have our athletes competing on a level playing field."<br><Br>

UFC issues statement regarding Sunday’s UFC.com hack

On Sunday night, a hacker group redirected UFC.com visitors to a site called UGNazi.com, claiming the hack was in response to the UFC’s support of the controversial SOPA and PIPA bills in Congress. The UFC has now issued an official response (via MMAFighting.com):

“On Sunday, January 22nd, the UFC.com website was redirected by a criminal hacker to another website. The UFC website was quickly restored to the control of the UFC, and there is no evidence suggesting that any confidential information belonging to the company or its customers was compromised by the re-direction of the website. UFC representatives are continuing to investigate the matter and are working with law enforcement agents to prosecute those involved.”

King Mo Will Not Contest Positive Test, Blames Supplement

"King Mo" Lawal has no plans to appeal a positive drug test for performance enhancing drugs according to manager Mike Kogan.<Br><Br>

Kogan told <a href=http://www.mmafighting.com/2012/01/23/mo-lawal-wont-appeal-positive-test-for-steroids-but-will-file/>Ariel Helwani</a> this week that the camp won't appeal due to Lawal not knowing taking the banned substance.<br><Br>

Kogan explained:<Br><Br>

"Since we're not contesting the findings of the commission test, we're not challenging the chain of custody, we're not pointing fingers at anybody and we're not calling for conspiracy theories, I don't believe we'll actually file an appeal per se," Kogan told Helwani. "What we will file is an answer, and an answer would involve affirming their test results and providing our findings and our explanation."<Br><Br>

The guilty party, according to Kogan and Lawal, is a supplement called S-Mass Lean Gainer by Rock Solid, which Lawal said he bought at a Max Muscle store in California and used only sporadically for "rehab stuff," the fighter explained. It was recommended to him by a Max Muscle employee some time in April of 2010, he said, though it's since been removed from the market, according to Kogan, who admitted he had no knowledge that Lawal was taking any supplements at all prior to his positive drug screening.<Br><Br>

"To the best of my research, this product was taken off the shelves some time in mid-2011, for exactly the same reason that we're facing right now. Its primary and only relevant ingredient of that particular product is a substance known as Methyldrostanolone, which is basically just a pill format of Drostanolone," Kogan said.<Br><Br>

Edson Barboza posts ?KO of the Year? finish of Terry Etim at UFC 142

Edson Barboza was cruising towards a solid victory, but that wasn’t enough. The Brazilian decided to try a spectacular spinning heel kick (some called it a wheel kick) and Terry Etim’s face was the unfortunate recipient.

Etim went down in a heap, his right arm stuck in the air. The Brazilian scored the third-round finish at the 2:02 mark to record his fourth victory in the UFC in the opener of the pay-per-view portion of UFC 142 in Rio de Janeiro.

What a way to kick off the PPV show at HSBC in Barboza’s homeland. The fight was actually starting to get a little stale. Barboza used his low kicks to settle into a good scoring groove, but he didn’t look like he was going to try for the kill.

The kick was perfectly executed and Etim never saw it coming. UFC analyst Joe Rogan said it was the first spinning heel kick knockout in the history of the UFC.

“When you fight in Brazil, it’s unlike fighting in any other place in the world. In a fight, you try things and hope they work. Tonight, it (the kick) worked. It’s something I’ve practiced a lot and I finally was able to land it hard,” Barboza said.

Barboza (10-0) is a perfect 4-0 in the UFC while Etim (15-4, 6-4 UFC) has lost 2-of-3.
